Both the operating systems are very popular and I have installed both the operating systems. I use Windows 10 if I wanna play games, or wanna use Microsoft office or Photoshop. Windows 10, for beginner, makes it easier to learn, hides several technical backgrounds to simplify, so the user does not even know what he is doing.
Having that said, I use Ubuntu most of the time, firstly because it has great performance, you will notice how fast the booting of Ubuntu 16.04 is as compared to Windows 10. The overall running of Ubuntu 16.04 surpasses the Windows 10 in terms of performance. Secondly, there is no threat of viruses or information theft in Ubuntu 16.04 while it is a big problem for Windows users. Thirdly, to use Windows 10, you have to buy licence, however, you get Ubuntu 16.04 with free of cost, you have superpower to control it, you can even get the source code of operating system. If you are a developer, you will enjoy Ubuntu system more than Windows. In my opinion, there is huge community for Ubuntu as compared to Windows, that means if any problem, within no time , you will find solution or any workarounds for the problem.
The only downside for Ubuntu 16.04 is that it comes with no GUARANTY, you yourself are responsible for any crashes, and the chances of getting bugs is higher until you use stable version. But in my experience, I faced more Windows system crashes than Ubuntu. Windows users, however, can complain about their problem to support guys, available online also.
So, in conclusion, this is totally subjective to say which one is better. Both are quite mature with a lot of features, still I say, Ubuntu 16.04 would give you more advantages if you are active user who is interested to learn and contribute something. On the other hand, if you only care about your tasks done and nothing else, then Windows 10 is there for you.
