    3. Sorry for the inconvenience caused but here are the few things you can try to solve your problem:

      1. Try upgrading you Fingerprint driver software.
      2. Try replacing your current fingerprint scanner device.
      3. Make sure that your device manufacturer had made driver for fingerprint scanner for Ubuntu. You can know this by visiting you device manufacturer website. If driver is available there download it and install.

Hopefully it will work for you...........

  7. When i try to Scan the finger, it tells me:

    ERROR,
    Couldn't find fingerprint device.
Permission problem? (yes, with a question mark)

I have dell veloster laptop with build-in fingerprint scanner. Any ideas?

  8. Please check whether your device has recognized the device or not...
If you have in-build fingerprint device then only possible reason could be some permission issues...
But if you attached external fingerprint scanner then make sure you have installed its drivers if req. and your PC has recognized it...
    Thanks...

    1. Firstly remove all files related to Fingerprint GUI & uninstall everything related to the same. Then
      1. Add this PPA to your sources:

      sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fingerprint/fingerprint-gui
      sudo apt-get update

      2. Install the packages:

      sudo apt-get install libbsapi policykit-1-fingerprint-gui fingerprint-gui

      3. Restart your device

      Thanks............

    1. Kindly share the error details you've received or alternatively you can try the complete process again. Meanwhile, I suggest you to once go through the official website of Fingerprint GUI as some Ubuntu users reported that last year said application took away its support on Ubuntu devices running on Ubuntu 20.04 & higher versions.
